The position paper highlights the strategic role of subnational governments in tackling desertification, soil degradation, and drought, proposing integrated actions in territorial planning, water and food security, ecosystem restoration, multilevel governance, financing, capacity building, and social justice. Furthermore, we emphasize the experiences of cities and local and regional governments that contribute to building more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable territories.
