The Local Protected Areas regional project is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, in partnership with ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. The project is financially supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), within the framework of the International Climate Initiative (IKI).
