Food systems are one of the main threats to biodiversity loss. Over the last 50 years, the transformation of natural areas into intensively used agricultural areas has led to significant changes in the functioning of natural environments, resulting in the loss of natural habitats and a reduction in global biodiversity. Furthermore, food systems are also one of the main drivers of climate change, being responsible for approximately 301 Tbp of human-produced emissions.
