The Technical Note with Recommendations for Integrating Ecosystem Services into the National Urban Development Policy (PNDU) is a product developed within the scope of INTERACT-Bio, from the TerraGIS and NeoUrbs consortium, in partnership with ICLEI South America, the Ministry of Regional Development (MDR), and the ANDUS Project, a cooperation instrument between the Brazilian and German governments and executed by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

The use of biodiversity and ecosystem services, the foundation of this material, is considered a strategy to enable species and their environments to adapt to the adverse effects of the climate crisis. Therefore, the document presents recommendations for integrating ecosystem services into urban development. The publication also aims to contribute to balancing benefits for people and nature in the urbanization process. In this way, it intends to further strengthen the development of the National Urban Development Policy (PNDU), developed by the Ministry of Regional Development (MDR).
The Note includes contextualization on Ecosystem Services and territorial planning, some reflections on supramunicipal planning strategies, the analysis of four case studies, the presentation of the methodological proposal, potential financing mechanisms, and recommendations for the integration of Ecosystem Services.
