The Urban Laboratory for Public Food Policies (LUPPA) is an ongoing learning initiative operating in 43 cities across various regions of Brazil, promoting the development and implementation of food policies through a collaborative, intersectoral, and systemic approach.
In its third edition (2023-2024), LUPPA brings together 43 cities from 18 Brazilian states, impacting more than 14 million inhabitants. The program has the support and partnership of five mentor cities: Belo Horizonte, Curitiba, Osasco, Recife, and São Paulo. LUPPA also contributes to the international campaigns Race to Zero and Race to Resilience, in addition to responding to the Call for Action from Non-State Actors for the transformation of Food Systems, promoted by the UN Climate Change High-Level Champions and the Marrakech Partnership.
The recommendations listed in the position paper are presented to the International Community to contribute to the agenda of COP 29 of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (Conference of the Parties), aiming to support the building of more resilient, fair and sustainable food systems.
