The global campaign "A New Deal for Nature and People," launched by WWF, brings together diverse actors such as the private sector, civil society, traditional populations, researchers, and subnational governments, and reinforces the new post-2020 biodiversity framework as fundamental to reversing the loss of biological diversity. To make this a reality, it is expected that the new agreement to be signed by the parties under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) will be as ambitious as the Paris Agreement was for the climate emergency in 2015.

In this context, ICLEI South America and WWF-Brazil seek to mobilize and raise awareness among Brazilian states and municipalities on the path to COP15, systematizing contributions and challenges from subnational governments based on key themes.
