2018 was an intense year for ICLEI South America. Ending the year with 73 members, 601 of whom were up-to-date with their financial obligations, indicates that the journey was successful and that the past year was one of growth.

In addition to the new headquarters in São Paulo, ICLEI welcomed new collaborators (today there are 24 in total). As planned in the strategy, National Coordination offices were established in partnership with the Metropolitan Area of Valle de Aburrá, in Colombia; and with the city of Santa Fe, in Argentina. The portfolio of projects and partners was expanded, and new initiatives and forms of action, such as the Leaders of the Future program, were launched.

This growth means more responsibility, and it comes with a sense of excellence and a need for impact.

ICLEI celebrates the success achieved in 2018 and moves forward aware that it is possible to do even more. The path continues to be one of collective construction with associates and partners; of complicity and respect for governance bodies; of valuing human resources. And so we move forward in 2019, with firm steps, towards a future where urban development standards are more sustainable.
