2017 was a year of transition. Using strategic planning carried out in partnership with the Dom Cabral Foundation, ICLEI South America positioned its network of over 60 local governments in the region at the center of its strategy and oriented its actions to serve them with greater excellence and proximity.
This year, it focused on deepening its agenda on the themes of climate change, biodiversity, and sustainable urban development. In this way, it strengthened its offering of training and technical support to South American local governments through workshops, international seminars, webinars, and training sessions.
Globally, it continued to represent the vision and interests of South American cities and regions in regional and global forums, thereby occupying important representative spaces, such as the Brazilian Forum on Climate Change and the UN Conference of the Parties on Climate Change.
There have also been changes in the internal perspective. To maintain a high level of service quality within the Network, ICLEI South America moved its headquarters and expanded its team of specialized collaborators. In the context of strategic development, it established goals for improving the organizational structure, information management, and internal procedures. This process will result in an organization better prepared to deliver value and benefits to the global Network of local governments seeking a sustainable urban future.
