The Youth for Climate initiative in Brejo da Madre de Deus is now open for registration.

As part of the program for the 1st Pernambuco Meeting of ICLEI Brazil, ICLEI South America and the Municipality of Brejo da Madre de Deus are launching the public call for proposals “Youth for Climate Action”. The initiative seeks to identify, value, and support local projects led by young people, focusing on adaptation to climate change and the promotion of climate justice.

The call for proposals is part of the global Town Hall COP movement, an initiative that prepares territories for COP30, which will be held in November 2025 in Belém (PA). The proposal aims to empower young people as agents of change and bring the goals of the Paris Agreement closer to local realities.

Young people, groups, schools, associations, or individual initiatives operating in Brejo da Madre de Deus are eligible to participate. Proposals already completed or in progress that offer solutions to challenges such as floods, droughts, heat waves, food insecurity, and biodiversity loss are eligible. The actions must have transformative potential, promote community engagement, and inspire replication in other contexts.

The three best initiatives will be recognized during the ICLEI Meeting on August 13, 2025. The winning proposal will receive technical mentoring, national and international visibility through an official publication, and the production of an institutional video with ICLEI support.

Registration is open until the day August 11, 2025 and must be done through an online form, available at the following link:
