The new platform for the Sustainable Cities Program, updated with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), will be launched on April 6th.

At the event, promoted by the Nossa São Paulo Network and the Sustainable Cities Program, two products from the new platform will be presented: the updated version of the GPS Guide – Sustainable Public Management and the program's new institutional video.

The new GPS Guide incorporates the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – approved last September by the UN General Assembly – which bring together 17 macro-objectives and 169 targets with the purpose of ending poverty by 2030 and universally promoting economic prosperity, social development and environmental protection.

A source of information for planning, management, and decision-making in public administration, this publication also aims to contribute to the training of municipal public managers and civil society organizations in various Brazilian cities, enabling them to implement indicators and target plans that encompass sustainable development.

In addition to the new GPS Guide, the new platform of the Sustainable Cities Program will contain a set of updated indicators – also adapted to the SDGs – and a Good Practices Database. These products will be available to the entire society and to candidates for municipal governments who wish to incorporate the Sustainable Cities Program and the Sustainable Development Goals into their future administrations.

According to the event schedule, after the presentation of the new video, some public managers will give testimonials about their management experiences after joining the program.

The presence of Mayor Rubens Bomtempo, from Petrópolis (RJ), Mayor Francinete Carvalho, from Abaettuba (PA), and the Municipal Secretary of Green Areas, Environment and Sustainable Development, Rogério Menezes, from Campinas (SP), has already been confirmed.

During the activity, the following will be formalized: Partnership between PCS and ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, with the presence of Pedro Roberto Jacobi, president of the ICLEI Brazil Council and interim executive secretary of ICLEI SAMS – Secretariat for South America.

The closing event will also feature performances by musician and composer Marcus Vianna, actress and singer Letícia Sabatella, and actor and musician Fernando Alves Pinto.

The event is open to all interested parties.
