ICLEI South America strengthens its regional governance with a new leadership structure.

ICLEI South America continues to strengthen its regional operations with an integrated leadership structure focused on supporting local and subnational governments in building more sustainable and resilient cities.

The current regional leadership team brings together leaders with extensive experience in urban sustainability, international cooperation, strategic planning, and project implementation throughout South America.

  • Rodrigo Perpétuo – Executive Secretary of ICLEI South America
  • Rodrigo Corradi – Deputy Executive Secretary of ICLEI South America
  • Armelle Cibaka – Director of ICLEI Brazil
  •  Maria Julia Reyna – Director of ICLEI Argentina and the Southern Cone
  • Alejandro González – Director of ICLEI Colombia and the Andean Zone

As part of this movement to strengthen the institution, Armelle Cibaka has just assumed the Directorship of ICLEI Brazil and, on an interim basis, the Regional Technical Management. The new director previously served as the organization's Planning, Management and Knowledge Manager.

In recent months, Armelle has been dedicated to completing her doctorate in Political Science at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), where she conducted research on development and reconstruction for local governments in post-conflict countries. She holds a master's degree in International Relations and a specialization in Global Project Management and Resource Prospecting from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (PUC-MG). In addition, she has a postgraduate degree in Public International Law and a bachelor's degree in Public Law, with specializations in areas such as International Negotiations, Geopolitics, Strategic Affairs, Marketing Management, Crisis Management, and Human Rights.

“I assume the leadership of ICLEI Brazil with enthusiasm and a sense of commitment, and I am motivated to contribute in an even more strategic way to strengthening our members in the face of national and international challenges related to climate, sustainability, and innovation,” says Armelle.

With this change, Rodrigo Corradi, who previously held the position, will now dedicate himself fully to his role as Deputy Executive Secretary of ICLEI South America, strengthening the process of consolidating and integrating regional operations in partnership with Rodrigo Perpétuo.

“Over the course of almost two years, we have managed to build ICLEI Brazil's identity with associates and partners, refining our local relationships in order to consolidate our national presence. Now, we will continue expanding our operation with more projects and partners at the national and international levels, especially strengthening regionalization and partnerships between offices located in Brazil, Colombia, and Argentina,” highlights Rodrigo Corradi.

The new configuration reinforces ICLEI South America's commitment to increasingly coordinated action among its national offices, expanding opportunities for cooperation, knowledge exchange, and the development of solutions for the region's climate and urban challenges.
