The Morro da Cruz Circular Project is part of the Action Fund Brazil, a program sponsored by Google.org and managed by ICLEI South America. This is one of four projects from civil society organizations selected to implement climate actions in their territories based on the use of data from the Environmental Insights Explorer platform – Google EIE.
The Morro da Cruz Circular project was named in honor of its area of operation, the Morro da Cruz community, one of the most socially vulnerable regions of Porto Alegre. Implemented from December 2020 to June 2022, the project left as a legacy a Proof of Concept on the transformative potential of renewable energies in vulnerable territories, through the combination of technology, socio-environmental education, and systemic and participatory data-driven approaches, with the aim of assisting in building the environmental and socioeconomic resilience of that territory.
