The Tinajillas Rio Gualaceño Municipal Ecological Conservation Area is one of the few experiences Ecuador has in terms of environmental decentralization for the conservation of protected areas. Administered by the Limón Indanza Municipal Decentralized Autonomous Government (GADM), this Conservation Unit aims to preserve the ecological integrity of ecosystems, biodiversity, and scenic beauty of the region, with prospects for sustainable use through environmentally friendly economic initiatives.
