From the 9th to the 13th of June, the city of Nice, in France, will be the center of attention in the international movement for the protection of the oceans. During this period, the Palais des Congrès de Nice will host the 3rd United Nations Conference on the Oceans (UNOC3), jointly organized by the governments of France and Costa Rica.
The event will bring together government leaders, representatives of civil society, the private sector, indigenous communities and other strategic actors, with the objective of accelerating action and mobilizing efforts to conserve and use the ocean in a sustainable way, boosting the implementation of Sustainable Development Objective 14 (SDG 14).
The conference will feature official events that will cover topics such as:

Conservation and sustainable use of oceans, seas and their resources;

Implementation of voluntary commitments;

Strengthening intersectoral alliances;

Initiatives to confront contamination, predatory fishing and the effects of climate change on the oceans.
One of the highlights of the conference will be the consensuated adoption of the Nice Ocean Action Plan, a political document with practical proposals and voluntary commitments from actors truly committed to the health of the oceans.
Brazil will be represented at the conference by a delegation led by the Ministry of Environment and Climatic Change, which will present the country's proposals to protect marine life and guarantee a sustainable future for our coast, with commitments related to solutions based on nature and climate resilience, new Conservation Units centered on socio-biodiversity and its implementation Marina Spatial Planning along the entire Brazilian coast.
