From June 9th to 13th, the city of Nice, France, The Oceans will be the focus of attention in the international mobilization for the protection of the oceans. During this period, the Palais des Congrès in Nice will host the... 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3), promoted jointly by the governments of France and Costa Rica.

The event will bring together government leaders, representatives of civil society, the private sector, indigenous peoples, and other strategic actors, with the goal of accelerating action and mobilizing efforts to conserve and use the ocean sustainably, boosting the implementation of... Sustainable Development Goal 14 (SDG 14).

The conference will feature official events that will address topics such as:

• Conservation and sustainable use of the oceans, seas and their resources;
• Implementation of voluntary commitments;
• Strengthening cross-sectoral alliances;
• Initiatives to address pollution, overfishing, and the effects of climate change on the oceans.

One of the milestones of the conference will be the consensual adoption of Nice Ocean Action Plan, a political document with practical proposals and voluntary commitments from actors truly committed to the health of the oceans.

Brazil will be represented at the Conference by a delegation led by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, which will present the country's proposals to protect marine life and ensure a sustainable future for our coastline, with commitments related to... Nature-based and climate resilience-focused solutions, new Conservation Units with a focus on socio-biodiversity, and the implementation of Marine Spatial Planning along the entire Brazilian coast.
