Updated on 10/08.
The public call for non-profit organisations working in sustainability and climate change, who are interested in implementing innovative and impactful projects in Curitiba (PR) and Porto Alegre (RS), has been launched this Wednesday (29/07). These cities have been chosen by the Action Fund Brazil initiative, contributing to the local governments' climate action strategies.
Applicant organisations (non-governmental organisations, civil society organisations, research institutes, academic institutions) must submit proposals for projects to be carried out between September 2020 and September 2021, over a total period of 12 months. For the implementation of these projects, each of the four selected organisations (up to two per city) will receive R$660,000.00 (six hundred and sixty thousand reais).
The submitted projects must use public data, such as the data made available by Google through the platform Environmental Insights Explorer (EIE), which compiles information on greenhouse gas emissions related to buildings and transport, as well as air quality data and solar energy potential on building rooftops.
Projects should also focus on themes such as sustainable urban mobility, energy efficiency, and sustainability in buildings, solar energy development, and air quality management. Proposals that align with local climate strategies can also be submitted.
The selection will be made based on criteria established by the ICLEI South America Selection Committee. Selected institutions will be trained in the use of the EIE platform and will participate in a workshop on the potential application of data in civil society projects.
The deadline for submitting projects is 04/09/2020.

Update on the call for applications
It was published on 07/08 an update to the notice, valid for both cities, concerning the delivery deadlines for some project stages.
The deadline for project submissions has also been extended to 6 September.
