As a member of the ICLEI Network, your local government is taking a step forward to join the internationalisation movement of cities and regions, participating in the main global debates on sustainability and accessing a series of opportunities to generate real impact in the territory.
Our aim is to attract players who are attentive and committed to promoting sustainable urban development. Local and regional governments, government associations, consortia and non-profit organisations from all South American countries are invited to join ICLEI. These members support the definition of strategies and policies to strengthen the climate agenda around the world.
Participation in the Network provides access to information services and publications for local governments.
Joining ICLEI means participating in a global network of more than 1,750 local and regional governments and gaining access to experts with a strong group of partners. ICLEI members actively engage with their peers through thematic conferences, trainings, webinars and online platforms and take advantage of our connections with other levels of government, international organisations, financial institutions and partners, which help strengthen project innovation and fundraising.
The Network's members have access to information, data and news that help guide their sustainability agenda. ICLEI occupies a privileged position representing the interests of local governments in various multilateral forums and intergovernmental conferences, which allows us to provide up-to-date information on global negotiation processes on sustainable development, technical and technological advances. It also shares and publicises practical examples of the experiences of the governments in the Network.
A range of methodologies, tools, training and technical support opportunities are offered to help local initiatives, from planning to implementation. By working with ICLEI's multidisciplinary teams, members are better prepared and trained to mainstream sustainability into local development policies and plans.
Our members drive the organisation's agenda by voting, participating and deliberating in the Network's governance bodies. They are also spokespeople for local governments at UN conferences and multilateral forums on sustainable development and make voluntary commitments to advance global agreements.
ICLEI Members are the core of our network, driving the global change we seek in our mission. Through our communication channels and presentation spaces at global events, we wish to share the best ideas and experiences with the world. Member governments have the opportunity to become global references through speaking slots at global conferences, ICLEI events, and partner events around the world; they have opportunities for recognition of their ideas and actions and access spaces to share experiences in our publications and communication channels.
