ICLEI presents TAP Brazil and opens a call for climate action projects until September

ICLEI South America held an online event on 24 June to present TAP Brazil, the national version of the Transformative Actions Program (TAP), a global programme created to support transformative projects led by local governments, focusing on ambitious and sustainable climate actions.

Implemented in partnership with the ICLEI World Secretariat, TAP Brazil was conceived to strengthen the development and viability of climate projects by improving connections with the country's climate finance ecosystem. The call for project submissions is open until 30 September 2025 and is aimed at states and municipalities across all regions of Brazil.

During the event, representatives from ICLEI, CCFLA, and other partner institutions detailed how the call for proposals works and answered questions about the application process. The agenda also included an overview of the current climate finance landscape in Brazil and the advantages of obtaining the TAP Seal, a certification that recognises projects with a high degree of ambition, viability, and positive impact.

About TAP Air Portugal

TAP Brasil receives institutional support from the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF), and is supported by the Brazilian Association for Development (ABDE), the Global Fund for City Development (FMDV), the Cities Climate Finance Leadership Alliance (CCFLA), and CDP, who make up the External Evaluation Committee.

In addition to visibility and access to national and international funders, all submitted projects will receive light technical assistance from the ICLEI team. Governments associated with the ICLEI network will also benefit from exclusive training during the implementation cycle.

The TAP platform has supported a total of 454 projects worldwide over its 10-year history, amounting to a portfolio of US$1.8 billion. Around 411 of the projects that have received the TAP Seal have already secured funding. Among the success stories is the Palmas Recicla project, which has been contributing to energy savings and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the municipality of Palmas (TO).

How to participate

Registrations are open until 30 September 2025. To submit a project, go to the Registration form.

Following submission, the ICLEI team may get in touch to request additional information and to provide technical support for project enhancement, aiming for its strategic strengthening for presentation to funders.
