The city of São Paulo She is a long-standing partner of ICLEI in the pursuit of sustainable urban development. Since joining the network, she has participated in several important events related to the climate agenda, committed to the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, and carried out some institutional collaborations, such as supporting the implementation of the São Paulo Climate Change Committee.

The city has developed important projects in partnership with ICLEI, such as "Green and Healthy Environments," which promotes the alignment of health, environment, and social development, and "INTEGRATION," which fosters the exchange of experiences among partners, based on... their initiatives for urban renewal, decontamination of degraded areas, review of land use and occupation, and community integration in the management of urban spaces, and the "GeRes Events Program," starting from the Sustainable and Integrated Management of Solid Waste in Sporting Events Project.

In 2020, the city was one of the supporters of the ICLEI Innovation project, in which it participated through its development agency, ADE SAMPA. Furthermore, in partnership with the Secretariat of Green and Environment, ICLEI South America developed the Conservation Unit Acceleration Program, which encouraged an entrepreneurial and innovative approach to the management of these spaces in the city of São Paulo.

The city of São Paulo was also represented at Daring Cities 2020, a global forum dedicated to urban leaders advocating for climate action. It participated in the panel “Post-Covid-19 Recovery: How to incorporate innovation and green stimulus into public management systems in South America”.

Back in 2021, we reaffirmed our joy in sharing the joint work within the CB27 project and in having had representatives from the city at COP26, such as Mr. Francisco Castro.

The anniversary of São Paulo is celebrated on January 25th.
