By committing to the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy in 2018, the city...participated in training sessions offered by ICLEI on the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Inventory and the Climate Action Plan, which resulted in the preparation of the Serra Talhada GHG Inventory, launched in December 2020.

In 2021, it joined the ICLEI South America Cities Network and also became a member of... Alliance for Climate Action – ACA Brazil.
