ICLEI South America has signed a contract with the federal government, through the Ministry of the Environment (MMA), to support the implementation of the National Adaptation Strategy (Adapta Cities). The initiative foresees the realisation of regional and national events to promote strategic actions aimed at urban resilience and climate adaptation in Brazilian municipalities.
The contract was awarded via a Parliamentary Amendment, in accordance with the following regulations:
- Law No. 13,019 of 31 July 20144, which establishes the Regulatory Framework for Civil Society Organisations (MROSC);
- Decree No. 8,726 of 27 April 2016;
- Law No. 14.802 of 10 January 2024, which establishes the Union's Multi-Year Plan for the period 2024 to 2027;
- Law No. 14,791 of 29 December 2023, concerning the Budgetary Guidelines Law (LDO/2024).
