ICLEI Innovation launches a call for technical and/or institutional support

In a global context of health crisis, which has been generating profound impacts in all countries around the world, the green economy is re-emerging strongly in the debate about the actions that should be implemented for the economic recovery that will take place when the emergency imposed by Covid-19 is overcome.

Technological solutions are fundamental to the transition process required to achieve a green economy, which encompasses not only current market demands but also a new proposition for the future.

With this outlook, ICLEI South America and Publicae (a joint venture formed by FCJ Venture Builder e HOUER Concessions) present the ICLEI Innovation, which is born with the intention of generating technological solutions that can meet the demands and challenges of the municipalities. The platform will focus on sustainable urban development and entrepreneurship.

Launched in February 2020, during the opening of the XVIII National Meeting of Environmental Secretaries of Brazilian Capitals (CB27), ICLEI Innovation will select ten startups from across Brazil, which will have up to four months to create solutions that support innovation and sustainability in local public management.

After the acceleration, investment and capitalisation of the selected startups, the project will trial the proposed solutions in the CB27 municipalities, testing the application of the developed technology. in cities and the scalability of this solution for other municipalities. The call for applications for start-up selection will be launched soon.

The first stage of the acceleration programme will focus on the urban green areas segment, in order to strengthen the management and sustainability of cities and promote green spaces and the adoption of nature-based solutions, which generate measurable results.
