Diploma in Integrated Biodiversity Management and Climate Resilience for the Transition of Colombian Cities Towards Sustainability

Brief project description: A diploma program for 66 public officials from the mayoral offices of 33 capital cities across the country. This initiative is led by the IDB and Asocapitales and delivered by the Pontifical Javeriana University and the ICLEI Colombia team.

Territory(ies) where it was implemented: Hybrid model with in-person sessions in the cities of Bogotá and Medellín

Products developed: 

  • 35 hours delivered through synchronous modules, with topics such as biodiversity management, climate change adaptation and mitigation, international cooperation, among others.
  • An in-person opening session of the Diploma course in the city of Bogotá
  • A field trip and closing ceremony of the Diploma program in the city of Medellín
  • 12 projects formulated by the Diploma participants, under the technical and academic support of the ICLEI Colombia team and Pontifical Javeriana University, together with a group of experts in climate finance issues from different entities and organizations in the country. 

Key results:

  • 36 public officials certified through this process where learning, innovation and action came together to strengthen local capacities.
