PULAC - “Local urban planning for adaptation to climate change in Chile”

The project aimed to strengthen the adaptive capacity of local governments to the impacts of climate change, taking into account the territorial, geographical, ecological and socioeconomic characteristics of the participating municipalities, as well as the challenges specific to their local contexts.

Components:

  • Climate diagnosis and analysis, including applied research, baseline development, mapping of governance structures, analysis of regulatory frameworks, existing programs, plans and policies, identification of key actors and analysis of climate risks and vulnerabilities (ARclim).
  • Planned adaptation and capacity building, through technical workshops for local governments, resilience self-assessment tools (Scorecard), integrated climate risk and disaster risk analysis, and evaluation of adaptation measures at the community level.
  • Networks and strategic alliances, aimed at disseminating results and strengthening inter-municipal cooperation, including a cooperation seminar for adaptation and peer-to-peer exchange of experiences within the ICLEI network.
