O Youth Climate Action This is an ICLEI initiative in partnership with Brazilian local governments to identify, recognize, and support youth-led projects focused on climate adaptation, climate justice, and territorial resilience. Inspired by the Brazilian concept of "mutirão" – a community gathering to solve collective challenges – and aligned with the self-determined contributions discussed in the context of COP30, the program integrates the global movement. Town Hall COP and connects local agendas to the goals of the Paris Agreement.
The initiative involves young people, collectives, schools, and associations operating in the partner municipality, whose proposals offer concrete solutions to challenges such as floods, droughts, heat waves, food insecurity, and biodiversity loss. The winning initiatives receive technical mentoring, visibility in ICLEI publications and events, and are integrated into the Brazilian narrative of subnational climate action leading up to COP30 in Belém (PA).
