In Colombia, the cities of Tópaga and Envigado were selected as pilot cities for the LEDS Lab. The contracted consulting consortium is in its initial phase, gathering information from each area to determine which public buildings will be targeted by the LEDS Lab. The project also helps the cities form working groups and begin the local transformation process.

The initiative will also conduct webinars to engage stakeholders in the LEDS Lab process (such as banks, financial institutions, electric companies, etc.).

Still within the framework of the Urban-LEDS II project in Colombia, the cities of Tópaga and Cartago were highlighted. 

In April, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MADS) published a guide with guidelines for new mayors and departmental governors to incorporate climate change into territorial development plans, presenting strategic tools for the implementation of adaptation and mitigation policies and actions based on their ecosystems and the communities that inhabit them. 

Under the title “Empowered Territories for Climate Action”, the document presents the Comprehensive Territorial Climate Change Management Plan of Tópaga as a reference for success, as well as the solar traffic light project of Cartago, confirming the success of the Urban-LEDS II program in the Colombian territory.
